HIGHLANDER:
THE ELEMENT OF FIRE
|
Boy, what an
eye-opener. Writing this book was my chastening
introduction to the world of tie-ins and fans--
the kinds of hard-core fans that flourish on the
internet when something like HIGHLANDER sets
people afire.
I was a fan of the movies myself, and HIGHLANDER
afforded me the rare opportunity to do a story
that featured both Duncan of the television
series and Connor of the movies. Naturally, many
of the fans were thrilled, and many were deeply
angered when they disagreed with some choices I
made.

| Personally,
I think the idea of being trapped in the Game of
Immortality a la HIGHLANDER is a foreboding and
depressing one. I let Connor express all that
nasty weariness, and Duncan's a bit sour, too.
Darker fans loved it; romantic fans did not. Go
ye therefore and write franchise novels. A
wonderful opportunity and a great experience. |
